The situation
A studio condo near downtown San Francisco with light wall-to-wall carpet. The entry area had dark soiled spots from street shoes, a clear gray "path" ran from the door to the kitchen, and a small dog had left its own marks and odor. The owner was preparing the unit for guests and wanted it fresh, fast.
What we did
- Dry soil removal first. Deep vacuuming lifts the abrasive grit that grinds carpet fibers down over time.
- Targeted pre-spray. The entry spots and pet areas got an enzyme treatment that breaks down organic stains and neutralizes odor at the source instead of masking it.
- Hot water extraction. High-temperature rinse and immediate extraction pulled out years of embedded soil. The recovery water told the whole story.
- Grooming and drying. Fiber grooming plus airflow, and the carpet was fully dry within 6 to 8 hours.
The result
The traffic path disappeared, the entry spots cleaned up completely, and the pet odor was gone, not covered. A neighbor who saw the entry area asked for a business card on the spot. Total time on site: about 90 minutes.
